Saskatchewan’s Premier has sent a letter to the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs calling on the federal government to make public a comprehensive plan for cross-border travel.

In the correspondence, Premier Scott Moe says they appreciate details provided around Phase 1 of adjusting border measures but the details are unclear such as when mandatory quarantines will be lifted for fully vaccinated travelers and if Canada will require proof of vaccination for foreign travelers.

Moe states that safely adjusting border measures to allow travel for fully vaccinated individuals will be critical for a return to normal. He also suggests it could increase vaccine uptake across Canada.

The provincial government continues to urge Saskatchewan residents to get vaccinated. As of Monday another almost
32,000 Saskatchewan residents need to get their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine by the middle of July, to meet the 70 per cent threshold for people aged 12 and over in the province to get their first shot, and for the government to lift all gathering size restrictions and mask-wearing in public.
