An intense storm hit Prince Albert and the immediate area around 9:30 this morning. (Wed) Pictures posted online show hail, broken trees and flooded streets in part of P.A.
Environment Canada meteorologist Terri Lang, says a big thunderstorm rolled through, “It looks like localized flooding, a good amount of hail too – it looks like pea to dime size – but there was a good amount. That will also lead to problems with drainage in and around the city as well, plugging up the drains.”
Lang says Prince Albert recorded 14.8 mm of rain. And before the power outage knocked out the weather station a peak gust of 113 kilometre an hour was recorded.
All of this comes after an evening of severe weather Tuesday evening in west-central Saskatchewan, where three rope-like tornadoes were reported. There were some power outages and wind caused some building damage.
A text message came in this morning about the intense storm which hit Prince Albert and area indicating up to 12 inches, or about 30 centimetres, of water on some streets.
