Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the border with the U.S will remain closed until July 21st at the earliest. Speaking in Ottawa, Trudeau was asked if fully vaccinated travellers would have easier access to crossing and he said restrictions will be loosened in a responsible way, “We have to really make sure that not only people who are fully vaccinated can travel but the communities to which they will return are not at risk because even though they are protected from hospitalization, the people around them might not be.”

The federal government will work with the provinces to work on a national certification of vaccination status, according to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, “That will be easily accepted around the world for people who need to travel internationally, and that will involve a working together with the provinces because the provinces, of course, have your health data and your vaccination status.” Trudeau also says a new app, ArriveCan, will be available for download in the very near future.

Speaking from quarantine at his Ottawa home, the Prime Minister says more Moderna vaccines are on the way to Canada. Justin Trudeau says they’re locking in shipments for July, “Just like we surpassed our delivery numbers for the first quarter this year we’re doing the same for the spring quarter. That will mean for the end of June, as promised, we’ll be at well over 50 million doses, total. ”  (CJGX)
