The Saskatoon Fire Department now says Saturday’s explosion at a house in the 2200 block of Clarence Avenue was due to damage to a gas line inside the home.

Further investigaton by Saskatoon Fire found no evidence of a clandestine lab or hazardous materials. The incident was also not the result of a SaskEnergy system issue as all appropriate integrity checks were completed on the SaskEnergy infrastructure. Damage is estimated to be $600,000 to the properties involved following the explosion just before 4 a.m. on June 19.

A 59 year old man who lived in the house, died in the explosion.  No name is being released and police say no foul play was involved.
