The Saskatoon Fire Department’s investigation of a pair of separate fires from the same area in the 1100 block of Idylwyld Drive North on Wednesday were the result of arson.

Fire crews were called out shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday, but a porch fire had already been extinguished when they arrived. However, after making sure the blaze was fully out and on their way back to the fie station, a small amount of garbage was found to be burning in the same lane of the 1100 block of Idylwyld Drive North, which the fire crew was able to extinguish with water. Damage from the two fires is estimated at $5,000 with the Saskatoon Police Service continuing to investigate.
