Regina Police say three elementary schools in northwest Regina enacted secure the building protocols Thursday afternoon. It was done as a precaution because these schools were close to an ongoing police investigation into a potential firearm on Wheatly Bay. School Resource Officers went to the schools and the School Boards were notified.

“Secure the building” means there is a potential threat outside the school so outside doors are locked; activities carry on as usual and, at the end of day, there is a controlled dismissal of students. That’s what occurred in this situation and dismissal was completed at the three schools.

The investigation on Wheatly Bay is ongoing.

The involved schools were W.H Ford, Centennial and St. Jerome.
