The president of the Rotary Club of Saskatoon Nutana told the students at St. Frances Cree Bilingual School on Friday that the service organization plans to support Indigenous performing arts education at their new building when it opens in the fall of 2023.

Lorne Braithewaite says, “St. Frances School is a response to the Truth and Reconciliation’s Calls to Action which aligns perfectly with Rotary’s belief in the value of friendship and mutual respect in building community.”  The Nutana Rotary club understands that it will take generations for true reconciliation, but this projects gives the club an opportunity to continue their work for the long term.

Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools Board Chair, Diane Boyko, says music and the arts are tangible ways to both express and experience Indigenous culture.  The new St. Frances Cree Bilingual School will be on the corner of 7th Street East and Grosvenor Avenue.  It is currently on McPherson Avenue.
