A teenage boy has been charged with armed robbery after allegedly stealing a vehicle on Poundmaker First Nation.

On Tuesday at approximately 5 p.m., Battleford RCMP responded to a report of two armed robberies at a business on Highway #4 on Poundmaker First Nation.

An investigation revealed that a boy reportedly entered the business with a firearm and demanded vehicle keys, but didn’t obtain any. The teen then allegedly entered a neighbouring business, demanded and took vehicle keys from an occupant, and fled in that vehicle. Police say the firearm was discharged during these incidents, but no one was injured.

Investigation determined the stolen vehicle was at a residence on Mistawasis First Nation. Members from Ahtahkakoop Detachment, Big River Detachment, Blaine Lake Detachment, the Prince Albert Crime Reduction Team, Police Dog Services, the North Battleford Provincial General Investigation Section and the Emergency Response Team assisted in containing the residence and arresting the male youth in connection to this investigation.

The teenager, who cannot be identified as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act is charged with several offences including 2 counts discharge firearm with intent, 2 counts robbery, among others.

He will appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Monday
