It’s my Parting Shot for my reactions to the headlines in today’s Star-Phoenix Sports section…..

First headline…Saskatchewan Roughriders have major holes to fill at linebacker. My reaction…the loss of imports Derrick Moncrief and Solomon Elimimian appears large, at first blush. But, I think veteran C-F-Ler Larry Dean and former Edmonton star and N-F-Ler Deon Lacey will be more than capable replacements. Where the Green and White will hurt is with the departure of Canadian Cameron Judge. He was a big ratio help for the Riders. I don’t see a homebrew linebacker on the training camp roster anywhere near the kind of performer that Judge was, meaning a third import will be required at linebacker in 2021 and a Canadian will need to be deployed as a starter somewhere else…possibly along the offensive line or in the secondary!

Next headline…Rattlers, Stingers ready to play back-to-back-to-back, It’s been a rough start for the Saskatchewan Rattlers, who still have blanks across their win column. Reaction…conversely, it’s been a great start for the defending C-E-B-L champions from Edmonton. They have yet to lose in three starts with the first of these three consecutive meetings coming tomorrow in the Alberta capital. At 0-4, the Snakes are in desperate need of a win. In major pro sports, in a short season, a coach at 0-4 might be in danger of losing his job. I hope that’s not the case for Chad Jacobson!

Last headline…Still no sign of quit in resilient Canadiens. My reaction…good on them…I just hope their glass slipper finally doesn’t fit tonight! Go Bolts!!
