According to Saturday’s COVID-19 “highlights” from the Ministry of Health, there were 42 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Saskatchewan.
Nine of the 13 provincial zones recorded at least one new case with the most from the Far North East with nine. Coupled with 30 recoveries and the active case count in the province is at 414, up 11 from Friday’s report. However, the seven-day average for new cases is down slightly to 44. A 572nd death due to COVID-19 is included in Saturday’s update, but no information on age group or from what zone the deceased person was from was provided. Of the 414 active cases of the virus in Saskatchewan, 61 people are in hospital with nine infections being treated in an I-C-U.

- 12,684 of the cases are individuals in the 19 and under age category; all others are adults, with 50.2% of the cases males and 49.5% females.
- 4% (1,783) of cases are travel-related, 61% (30,259) are contacts to known cases or involved in mass gathering(s), 27% (13,099) have no known exposures and 8% (4,099) are under investigation by local public health.
- 2,539 cases are healthcare workers, although the source of their infections may not be health care related.
- As of July 10th, a total of 61 individuals are hospitalized; including 52 inpatient hospitalizations and 9 ICU hospitalizations.
- One (1) new death reported today. 572 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died with a case fatality rate of 1.2%.
- 934,065 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of July 8, 2021 when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 786,891 tests performed per million. The national rate was 980,902 tests performed per million.
- The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 44 (3.6 per 100,000).
