The provincial government has released over $2.1 million through the charitable gaming grant program to support more than 700 groups and organizations across the province.
The quarterly grants paid by the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority are based on a percentage of net proceeds raised through licensed charitable gaming activities such as bingos, raffles, breakopen tickets, Texas Hold’em Poker and Monte Carlo events.
Charitable gaming reports submitted by groups as part of their charitable gaming licence are used by SLGA to automatically calculate grant amounts.
Among the grants provided by(SLGA) during the most recent quarter:
· Yorkton and surrounding area: $178,672;
· Moose Jaw and surrounding area: $141,802;
· Prince Albert and surrounding area: $115,759;
· Estevan/Weyburn and surrounding area: $97,137; and
· Melfort/Nipawin and surrounding area: $61,542.
