Online donations are now being accepted for fundraising through the Catholic churches in Saskatchewan to support healing and reconciliation.
A news release from the five Catholic Bishops of Saskatchewan says through conversations with Indigenous leaders, the priorities are healing and reconciliation, cemeteries on the sites of former residential schools, and education and cultural support.
The goal of this campaign is to support Residential School survivors and their communities, and to engage more deeply in the Church’s ongoing commitment and response to the Truth and Reconciliation process.
Each diocese will work separately to discern how they will proceed, while communicating with their communities.
