There are 12 Saskatchewan products heading to Tokyo to represent Canada at the upcoming Summer Olympics.
Half of the Saskatchewan contingent are athletes, including 10-metre platform diver Rylan Wiens of Pike Lake, softball outfielder Jenny Gilbert and pole vaulter Anicka Newell, both of Saskatoon. Acting as coaches with Canadian teams are women’s basketball head coach Lisa Thomaidis and fellow Saskatoonian Mary Carroll with the diving team. Two other Saskatoon products are at the Games in a support staff role, Rhonda Shishkin as a physiotherapist with the women’s basketball team and Graham Olson as a video analyst with the Canadian swim team.
