Construction is already underway in multiple Saskatoon residential neighbourhoods towards making vehicle traffic safer for pedestrians.

Upwards of 150 permanent traffic calming installations will be constructed this summer in 39 Saskatoon neighbourhoods. Those traffic calming installations include curb extensions, median islands and location-specific solutions. Saskatchewan’s Municipal Economic Enhancement Program, or M-E-E-P, awarded the city $3.325 million for these projects to improve safety in residential areas. Locations with temporary traffic calming measures already in place will be replaced with permanent infrastructure.
