Saskatchewan’s 14 Members of Parliament have signed their names to a letter addressed to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, calling on the P-M to be fair with this province.
All 14 Saskatchewan M-Ps are members of the Conservative Party and are taking umbrage with Trudeau for his government not accepting Saskatchewan’s carbon-tax plan while New Brunswick’s plan to comply with the federal government’s carbon-tax was approved by the Supreme Court. The Saskatchewan M-Ps say, “this is a double-standard that is completely unjust”, adding, “You are effectively saying that the people of Saskatchewan must bear the full impact of your tax, while people in New Brunswick are protected from its full effect. This is grossly unfair.” Saskatchewan’s plan is similar to that of New Brunswick in that it provides relief to consumers from the federal carbon tax with a rebate.
