A throng of supporters joined the Saskatoon Tribal Council’s Tribal Chief, walking through downtown Saskatoon Tuesday afternoon to bring education and awareness about the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action and to support residential school survivors and honour the children who never made it home.

Mark Arcand says the news about locating unmarked graves on former residential school grounds is re-traumatizing survivors, so this walk helps to show support and helps in the healing.

He says, “I always tell people, it’s 2020. We didn’t create this. It happened in the past and we are just trying to fix and make things better.”

Tribal Chief Arcand hopes walking together towards reconciliation will help ignite ideas to honour the Calls to Action. He would like Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to unite for a healthier tomorrow.
