A Montreal Lake Cree Nation man has been arrested and charged with in connection with a deliberately-set fire with three people inside at the time.

Fifty-five-year-old Scott Bird has appeared in court and has been remanded in custody on charges of arson, attempted murder without firearm and uttering threats after Waskesiu/Montreal Lake R-C-M-P were sent to a house fire on the Montreal Lake Cree Nation at about 5:30 a.m. on Sunday. The three people inside the home escaped injury, but the house was extensively damaged. Bird will appear in court again on Wednesday.
