For the first time since July 26, there has been a COVID-19-related death in Saskatchewan.
There are no further details from the provincial government website as to how old or which zone the fatality came from, but Saskatchewan has now had 579 deaths due to the novel coronavirus since the pandemic was declared. Otherwise, 11 zones reported a total of 60 new cases of COVID-19 in the province Wednesday, including 14 from the Far North West zone and 13 from Saskatoon. There were just 26 recoveries, leaving 483 active cases of the virus in Saskatchewan. From that number, 56 people are in hospital with 12 infections receiving treatment in an I-C-U. In addition, 769 provincial residents became fully vaccinated on Tuesday out of a total of 1,057 doses administered.

- 12,962 of the cases are individuals in the 19 and under age category; all others are adults, with 50.1% of the cases males and 49.6% females
- 4% (1,886) of cases are travel-related, 61% (30,718) are contacts to known cases or involved in mass gathering(s), 27% (13,399) have no known exposures and 8% (4,178) are under investigation by local public health
- 2,563 cases are healthcare workers, although the source of their infections may not be health care related
- As of August 4th, a total of 56 individuals are hospitalized, including 44 inpatient hospitalizations and 12 ICU hospitalizations.

- 966,800 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of August 2, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 814,898 tests performed per million. The national rate was 1,017,025 tests performed per million.
- The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 50 (4.1 per 100,000).
