As of Monday, Americans can travel to Canada if they are fully vaccinated and they have had a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of arriving at the border.
This is the first step in the plan for Canada to open its borders on September 7th to any international, fully vaccinated travellers who have completed their vaccinations with a vaccine that is accepted by the Canadian Government.
In a news release, the federal government says the September 7th date depends on the COVID-19 situation at the time.
To be eligible to enter Canada for discretionary travel on the basis of vaccination status, travellers must use the ArriveCAN app or web portal.
Also as of today, international flights will be permitted to land at five more Canadian airports in Halifax, Quebec City, Ottawa, Winnipeg and Edmonton.
Anyone who submits false vaccination information could be liable to a fine of up to $750,000 or six months in jail, or both.
