Three people are facing charges after RCMP allege seizing crack cocaine and cannabis.
Last Wednesday around 4:45 p.m., a member of the Roving Traffic Unit stopped an vehicle on Highway #16 near Maidstone, for a driver’s license check.
The vehicle had a male driver and a male passenger. The driver was unable to provide a driver’s license. During the traffic stop, a woman drove up in a second vehicle and provided the driver a license. Police say the officer’s observations led him to suspect the occupants of the vehicles may be in possession of drugs. Both vehicles were searched and police say they seized, 36 grams of crack cocaine, 2 pounds of cannabis, a taser, about $3,000.00 cash, a digital scale, five cell phones, and a vacuum sealer with several unused vacuum-sealed bags.
Identity documents were also located which matched the description of the male driver. It was learned that the driver’s license the male originally provided did not belong to him.
As a result of investigation, three individuals were arrested and charged.
28 year old Liban Abdi Mohamed, 30 year old Garang Bol Alam, and 18 year old Shyann Adelyne Nichols, all of Lloydminster, are facing drug and proceeds of crime charges. Mohamed and Nichols are also facing charges of obstruction, Identity fraud, and Possession of Government Documents. Nichols is also facing weapons charges.
