There were two new COVID-19-related deaths in Saskatchewan, according to Tuesday’s dashboard statistics in the provincial government website. That brings the total number of novel coronavirus-attributed fatalities to 584.
However, there were fewer new cases in the latest stats than the seven-day average and fewer new cases than there were recoveries, leaving a drop in the number of active cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan. Twelve of the 13 provincial zones recorded at least one new case, including 18 in Saskatoon, to account for the 65 total new cases in the province. The seven-day average still rose from 71 to 77, but the number of active cases dropped from 650 to 634. Of the active cases, 62 people are in hospital with 46 of those patients not being fully vaccinated. There are 13 infections being treated in an I-C-U. Otherwise, 625 of 853 vaccine doses administered Monday were second shots, upping Saskatchewan’s number to 667,556 fully vaccinated residents.
Before the highlights, here is the weekly rundown: The provincial government says from August 4th to 10th, 16,708 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered for a total now of more than 1-million-434-thousand-610. In the same time period, there were 536 new cases of the virus in Saskatchewan and 336 cases were confirmed as Variants of Concern. Three hundred and sixty-eight recoveries were recorded during the same period. As of Tuesday, 75 per cent of Saskatchewan residents 12 and over have received their first dose and 66 per cent are fully vaccinated.
