Just after 1 Wednesday afternoon, the Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a medical incident in the 700 block of Dufferin Avenue along with ambulance services. Before arriving, the Fire Department was notified there was the potential for an unknown hazardous material to be involved, so a Hazmat unit was sent out, along with the Decontamination unit and the Emergency Management command vehicle.
Three firefighters in full protective equipment entered the building and began evacuating occupants. The product turned out to be helium and carbon monoxide readings were zero, so the Hazmat team determined the building was clear of any harmful gases requiring protective equipment. The building was turned over to police and ambulance personnel.
