Over 86 per cent of those 12 and older have received at least one dose of the COVID-1 vaccine in First Nations, Inuit and territorial communities.
Indigenous Services Canada says of this group, over 65 per cent have received their second dose.
The ISC reports that active cases continue to rise in Saskatchewan, particularly in the north, which includes three First Nation community outbreaks.
The federal government says in a news release the ISC is working in partnership with the Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority and the communities to address vaccine hesitancy through access to testing and vaccination, and promotion of public health measures.
There is additional opportunity for vaccines in Saskatoon this weekend.
The Battlefords Agency Tribal Chiefs and the Saskatchewan Health Authority have arranged for testing and vaccination clinics on site at the Fred Saskamoose “Chief Thunderstick” National Hockey Championships in Saskatoon.
It’s today (Fri) through Sunday at the Harold Latrace, Agri Twins, and Rod Hamm Arenas.
