It was expected there would be a federal election called today, and now the Prime Minister is speaking  at Rideau Hall this morning, after meeting with the Governor General, Mary Simon.
The earliest possible date for the election would be September 20th, and if that happens, the election would be 36 days, the shortest length permitted.
