Statistics Canada says wholesale sales fell 0.8% in June to $71.5 billion. That ended three consecutive monthly increases with only the third decline since May 2020. June’s sales reflect sharp declines in the building material and supplies, as well as the machinery, equipment and supplies subsectors.
Saskatchewan was one of four provinces on the plus side. Although, it was just barely here, with a rise of 0.5 per cent. Compare to June of last year, sales here were up 2.5 per cent. Nationally, they were up 14.7 per cent. Ours was the smallest increase of the provinces. Total sales in Saskatchewan in June came to $2.39 billion.
