The Saskatchewan Health Authority has announced that as of Wednesday, the Royal University, City, and St. Paul’s Hospitals will move to the Recovery Phase for family presence and visitor restrictions. That means no limits on the number of essential family/support persons or visitors designated for each patient. The SHA encourages patients and families to consider limiting the number of people who are designated.
Two essential family or support people can be present at a time indoors, and four can visit at the same time in intensive care, end-of-life or palliative care. Timing may be subjected to scheduling limitations of the unit. If the visit is outside, there is no limit.
The SHA adds though that due to Emergency Department capacity and demands, they will remain at Level 1 Family Presence, meaning one support person is able to accompany a patient. The restrictions will be reviewed weekly The hospitals will return to Open Family Presence as soon as it is safe to do so. Visiting hours are 8 am to 8 pm.
