Don’t rush off to get extra vaccinations if you’re planning to travel. Yesterday the province suggested anyone planning international travel should check on the approved vaccines in their intended destination. But before you get to that stage of the process, the Government of Saskatchewan has to get its house in order first. Saskatoon residents who attempted to get an additional COVID-19 vaccination today were turned away because the proper paper work, essentially a consent form, isn’t yet available.
Some countries are requiring proof of vaccination with specific vaccines. The two most common are Pfizer and Moderna, so residents who received a combination of AstraZeneca, Prizer or Moderna can receive a third dose to match their last vaccine brand as long as it was Pfizer or Moderna. Those who received two doses of AstraZeneca will be able to get doses of Pfizer or Moderna.
There has also been no indication of any possible health implications in receiving a three to four doses of COVID-19 vaccine within a six month time frame.
