The rising numbers of COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan didn’t take Saturday off.
The provincial government dashboard showed 187 new cases with all 13 sones recording at least one new case. Seven of the 13 sones were in double-digits, topped by Saskatoon with 37. Coupled with 90 recoveries and the active case count for the novel coronavirus in Saskatchewan went up by 97 to 1,478. Of the active cases, there are 89 individuals in hospital with 15 infections receiving treatment in an I-C-U. There were no new COVID-19-related deaths for a 10th straight day while 4,064 doses of vaccine were administered on Friday. Of those, 2,635 provincial residents are now considered to be fully vaccinated.

- As of August 21st, there are 187 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 52,252 reported cases.
- The new cases are located in the Far North West (6), Far North Central (2), Far North East (14), North West (12), North Central (16), North East (22), Saskatoon (37), Central West (1), Central East (11), Regina (22), South West (9), South Central (3), and South East (6) zones, and 26 new cases are pending residence information.
- Eight (8) cases with pending residence information were assigned to the North Central (from August 19 (5)) and Regina (from November 17, 2020 (1), December 3, 2020 (1) and March 11, 2021 (1) zones.

- 12,287 cases are from the Saskatoon area
- 11,523 cases are from the North area (4,908 North West, 4,843 North Central, 1,772 North East)
- 6,225 cases are from the South area (1,240 South West, 2,018 South Central, 2,967 South East)
- 6,220 cases are from the Far North area (3,097 Far North West, 458 Far North Central, 2,665 Far North East)
- 3,415 cases are from the Central area (877 Central West, 2,538 Central East)
- 188 cases have pending residence information
- 1,478 cases are considered active and 50,188 cases are considered recovered.
- More than one-third (35.8%) of new cases are in the 20 to 39 years age category.
- As of August 21st, a total of 89 individuals are hospitalized; including 74 inpatient hospitalizations and 15 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 89 patients, 64 (72%) are not fully vaccinated.
- No (0) new death reported today. 586 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died with a case fatality rate of 1.1%
- 997,669 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of August 19, 2021 when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 840,299 tests performed per million. The national rate was 1,045,415 tests performed per million.
- The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case number was 155 (12.9 new cases per 100,000).
