New Confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported on Sunday topped 200 at 219. Saskatoon had the highest new numbers at 50, followed closely by Regina at 47. On Saturday, there were 187 new cases reported. There have been no new deaths. Recoveries as of Sunday number 142.
Active cases now number 1,556. A total of 94 individuals are hospitalized; including 12 in ICU. Of the hospitalized patients, 72 percent are not fully vaccinated.
New reported doses, total 2,180 which is a drop of 1,884 in one day.
The total number of fully vaccinated people stands at 685,403 which is a rise of 1,380 in one day.
Highlights
• As of August 22nd, there are 219 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 52,472 reported cases.
• The new cases are located in the Far North West (4), Far North Central (2), Far North East (3), North West (15), North Central (21), North East (20), Saskatoon (50), Central West (1), Central East (10), Regina (47), South West (10), South Central (23), and South East (4) zones, and 9 new cases are pending residence information.
• Five (5) cases with pending residence information were assigned to the Far North West (from August 20 (1)), North West (from August 10(1)), North Central (from August 20(1)) and Saskatoon (from August 19 (1) and August 20(1)) zones.
• One (1) SK resident confirmed positive tested out-of-province was added to the case counts in South East (from August 20 (1)), and two (2) SK residents were added to the North Central (from August 18(1)) and Saskatoon (from July 12(1)) zones.
• Two (2) cases were presumptive positive and removed from the Saskatoon zone (from August 20).

• 1,556 cases are considered active and 50,330 cases are considered recovered.
• Just over one-third (34.7%) of new cases are in the 20 to 39 years age category.
• As of August 22nd, a total of 94 individuals are hospitalized; including 82 inpatient hospitalizations and 12 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 94 patients, 68 (72%) are not fully vaccinated.
• No (0) new death reported today. 586 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died with a case fatality rate of 1.1%
• 999,644 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of August 19, 2021 when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 840,299 tests performed per million. The national rate was 1,045,415 tests performed per million.
