City administration will present two information reports on city-wide organics collection to the City’s Governance and Priorities Committee Monday. The reports which are in response to the requests made by the committee in June, outline the implications for funding and operations of waste programs, including organics if they were moved to a utility model and the option to outsource collections. In a news release, Brendan Lemke, the City’s Director of Water and Waste Operations says the City is thoroughly assessing all options as they implement the new service for residents, both financially and operationally along with keeping the City’s sustainability commitments in mind. The city-wide organics program is expected to roll out in the spring of 2023.
