Thursday, 12 of the province’s residents will receive the Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal at a ceremony held at Government House in Regina.
Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty says, “The Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal acknowledges the the exceptional contributions made by these generous and capable individuals,” Lieutenant Governor Mirasty said. “I offer my congratulations and thanks to each recipient on this well-deserved honour.”
The Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal was established in 1995 to recognize the extraordinary work done by volunteers across the province. Since its inception it has been awarded to 228 individuals.
There are five recipients from central Saskatchewan including Frank McDougall, Richard Strayer and Leela Sharma all of Saskatoon as well as Peggy George from Melfort and Ken Hartz of Bradwell.
The recipients of the 2020 Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal are:
