The U of Saskatchewan Huskies football team begins practices in advance of the 2021 Canada West Conference season tonight at 6 o’clock at Griffiths Stadium. The campaign starts Saturday, September 25th with three games, including the Dogs visiting the Calgary Dinos. The Huskies’ home opener will be Saturday, October 16th against the Alberta Golden Bears. Kick-off time is 2 p.m. at Griffiths Stadium.

The 50th annual Canadian Senior Women’s and Mid-Amateur Women’s Golf Championships continue and wind up today in Bromont, Quebec. The 85-player field will play 54 holes of stroke play. Among the 85 participants are four Saskatchewan entrants, including Diane Bethune of Saskatoon, Robin Acton of Lloydminster and Sue Skinner of Rosetown. Today is the third and final round.

The 2021 Rawlings Grand Slam Softball Championship starts today and runs through Sunday at Bob Van Impe Stadium, Joe Gallagher Field and Glenn Reeve #3 diamond. There are two divisions with 10 teams taking part in the Men’s division and nine teams in the Under-23 Men’s division. The host Saskatoon Angels are in the Men’s Division with two teams each from B-C, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. In the Under-23 Men’s division, the Saskatoon Diamondbacks and Delisle Pride are taking part along with seven other teams from across the country, including one from Newfoundland. First games get started at 9 a.m. today.
