Not the outcome the Roughriders were looking for when they took to the field against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Mosaic Stadium Sunday afternoon in the annual Labour Day Classic. The Riders didn’t score a touchdown in the 23-8 loss to Winnipeg. The 8 points came on two fields goals and two singles. Quarterback Cody Fajardo, who got roughed up in the second quarter on a scramble that appeared to hurt his right shoulder, threw three interceptions in the contest while completing 23 of 39 passes. The Riders defence did get three interceptions of their own along with a fumble recovery. Following the game, Fajardo told the media “It’s probably the worst game I’ve played as a professional. For me, after you throw three picks you might as well keep slinging it. If you throw four picks, you throw four picks. If you throw five picks, you throw five picks.” Winnipeg running back rushed for 95 yards in the game, the exact total he needed to move into 7th place overall in the CFL career rushing list. Saskatchewan will face the Bombers again in Week 6, this time a Saturday afternoon game in Winnipeg.
