Saskatoon Police say one dog was shot and a 17 year old male is in custody after officers were called to a domestic dispute around 11 o’clock Sunday night on Spinks Drive in the College Park neighbourhood.

Police say the door was locked and three large dogs were inside but they made contact with a suspect, who, initial reports indicated was potentially armed with a knife, through a window. However they weren’t able to get access to the home.  The suspect was seen through a bedroom window with two potential victims inside.

There was a struggle when an officer grabbed the suspect through the window and fearing he would get free, additional officers forced their way into the home which is when a large dog charged officers.  One officer fired his gun at the dog, it retreated into the bedroom with the suspect, an officer then subdued the dog by deploying a CEW which is when a two young people, male and female, were safely removed from the room.  The dog in the meantime charged officers a second time and was shot and killed.

The 17 year old, at this time, is facing charges of Uttering Threats and he remains in custody.  No people were injured in the incident.
