A five-week trial begins today (Tuesday) for Greg Fertuck at Saskatoon Court of Queen’s Bench, charged with first degree murder and indignity to human remains in the death of his wife.
Fifty-one year old Sheree Fertuck was last seen leaving her family’s farm east of Kenaston in December of 2015. Her keys, coat and cell phone were still inside the truck she had driven to the local gravel pit. Saskatchewan RCMP determined Sheree was the victim of a homicide in April of 2016. Her body has never been found.
In June of 2019, Greg Fertuck was arrested and charged. His trial was originally scheduled for this past March but Justice Richard Danyliuk said at the time that it’s a complex case, which because of COVID-19 and the rise in variant cases in the Regina area and the health directives discouraging travel, the decision was made to postpone the trial. Some of the witnesses are from the Regina area.
