The Saskatchewan Roughriders could be hurting in the secondary going into Saturday’s Banjo Bowl rematch with the Blue Bombers in Winnipeg.
Ed Gainey did not practice Wednesday while fellow veteran D-B Loucheiz Purifoy saw limited time on the Mosaic Stadium turf, both due to injuries. While he wasn’t ruling either out for Saturday as of yet, head coach Craig Dickenson did say there is a level of concern for both being able to suit up. If Gainey and/or Purifoy can’t play Saturday, Christian Campbell and Damon Webb would be the leading candidates to come off the practice roster. In addition, veteran defensive tackle Micah Johnson was said to be looking more and more like he’d be able to travel to Winnipeg.
