The Meewasin Valley Authority has announced the creation of a Valley-Wide Monitoring Framework. This initiative will help guide the development of the region with involvement from local community members, conservation groups and the general public. Eve Keller with the Meewasin Valley Authority says the organization is in the early stages of using the Valley-wide Monitoring Framework to organize and identify data needed to manage the valley. In the later stages, the strategy will then require participation from community members, conservation groups, Indigenous peoples and the general public. Keller says the framework is a network that will bring like-minded environmental citizens and groups to work together to help watch over the Valley and monitor its important resources. “The plan moving forward with our ecological monitoring activities around the valley, the kinds of partnerships we’re hoping to create, plans to just sort of elevate our monitoring practices.” From the framework, Meewasin hopes to expand observational capacity and develop best practices.
