A 26 year old man from Australia has received a five-year sentence for his online activities, after an investigation which included that Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation unit. In 2019, the ICE unit became involved when a concerned parent told the Regina Police Service a stranger was attempted to lure a 14-year-old girl through two social media applications.
Investigators worked with the authorities in Australia. The ICE unit says Joshua Baird was arrested and many more victims were found. Baird pleaded guilty in Melbourne Country Court this past July to 56 charges, including using social media to solicit child pornography material and procuring a child to engage in sexual activity outside Australia.
