With a nod towards providing education, leadership and awareness to youth about health and safety in the workplace, the provincial government proclaimed Friday, September 10, as Youth Safety Education Day.
Numbers from the Saskatchewan Workers’ Compensation Board showed that workplace injuries among youths, up to the age of 25, have declined by more than half in a decade…from 6,217 in 2010 to 2,659 in 2020. The date also showed that there were no youth work-related deaths in 2020.
