There were two different rallies of sorts on Thursday at the Saskatchewan Legislature. One was a group urging the province to enact some COVID-19 measures, considering the high number of new, daily cases of COVID-19 and the pressure it is putting on hospitals. The other was a group with the opposite view, wanting things to stay the way they are with no public health protocols and no provincial vaccine policies.
President of CUPE Local 5430, Judy Henley says the recent surge in cases has pushed front line workers to their limits. She believes the longer the Premier stays away, the worse the situation will get. NDP MLA Carla Beck says the rally serves as a message of frustration from Saskatchewan residents.
While those at the rally were calling for more restrictions, a group of “anti-maskers” across the street was heckling and blaring music.
