The Saskatchewan Roughriders may have been away from the practice field one more time Monday, but they made a roster move…signing import linebacker Michael Pinckney to the practice roster.
If Pinckney’s name sounds familiar, it’s because he took part in Saskatchewan’s training camp in July before being released. Both the Green and White and Toronto are 3-2 heading into the Friday Night clash at Mosaic Stadium. The Riders are tied for second in the West with B-C while Toronto leads the East Division. The Riders will likely be without quarterback Cody Fajardo. He left Saturday’s 33-9 Banjo Bowl loss in Winnipeg with what head coach Craig Dickenson described as a minor concussion after the contest. Dickenson added Fajardo will be O-K, but concussions are generally a one week absence at minimum. Following is the news release from the Riders…..

ROUGHRIDERS ADD LINEBACKER MICHAEL PINCKNEY
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American linebacker Michael Pinckney to the Club’s practice roster.
Pinckney (6’1-220 lbs) returns to the Roughriders after attending training camp with the team this summer. He previously signed with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent and spent the 2020 season on the practice roster.
Prior to turning pro, Pinckney had a very successful collegiate career at the University of Miami, starting in all 13 games as a true freshman, leading him to being named a freshman All-American by ESPN. Over four seasons and 49 games, Pinckney made 267 tackles, 42 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, three interceptions, eight passes defended and one fumble recovery. He earned All-ACC honourable mentions in 2017 and 2018 and was named second-team All-ACC as a senior in 2019.
