Saskatchewan citizens with a MySaskHealthRecord account at eHealth Saskatchewan can now use QR, or Quick Response, code to view their COVID-19 vaccination record. It can be downloaded/saved, printed and viewed on mobile devices.
E Health spokesperson, Davin Church, says you temporarily won’t need a pin number to access your vaccine information. The process has been amended for 3 or 4 months due to high demand and the need for citizens to be able to access their proof of vaccination certificate.
The new one-page format replaces the COVID-19 vaccination record launched in Saskatchewan in August which doesn’t include a QR code. The new QR code format includes name, type of vaccine administered, date, country of issuance and lot number.
This also supports proof of vaccination at border entry if you are travelling internationally.
Describing it as the next, improved version of the COVID-19 vaccination record, Health Minister Paul Merriman says, “It has been something that travelers, businesses and organizations have been asking for. With the announcement last week of stronger measures being introduced to help curb the transmission of COVID-19, I encourage anyone eligible for vaccination in Saskatchewan to get their vaccines, and to get their COVID-19 vaccine certificate from MySaskHealthRecord.”
Wallet cards showing vaccines administered will also be considered acceptable proof of vaccination to meet the conditions of the recent public health measures.
The government also says by the end of the month, businesses or organizations requiring proof of vaccination will have the option to download and use a free QR code verifier app, that will be able to scan the QR code and determine if a person is fully vaccinated or not. The Saskatchewan Vaccine Verifier app (SK Vax Verifier) will be free from Google Play or Apple App stores.
When the QR code is scanned it will either show a green indicator which verifies the person is fully vaccinated or red to show they aren’t. When scanned the information of the individual is not viewed, saved or retained.
By the end of September, citizens may also, if they choose, acquire for free the Saskatchewan Vaccine Wallet app (SK Vax Wallet) from Google Play or Apple App stores to download their vaccine record and have it easily accessible in the SK Vax Wallet app on their phone.
