For the first time since the dashboard on the Government of Saskatchewan website broke down daily new cases of COVID-19 by age groups, the 0-to-11 age bracket did not register the most new cases. In the latest update Monday 107 of 519 new cases of the virus were residents in their 20s, followed by the 0-to-11 demographic with 90. In both groups, 89 of the new cases were people who are unvaccinated.
In addition, Monday’s dashboard reading on the Government of Saskatchewan website indicates the seven-day average of new cases of COVID-19 continues to climb towards 500. The seven-day average of new cases is at 494.
All 13 Saskatchewan zones had at least one new case of COVID-19 in the latest update with 136 of them in Saskatoon, 63 from the North West zone, 54 from Regina and 53 from the North Central zone to account for more than half of the 519 new cases. Add in two virus-related fatalities and 431 recoveries and Saskatchewan’s active case count is at 4,672. From that number, 253 individuals are in hospital, including 56 infections being treated in an I-C-U.
