On Wednesday, Saskatoon Police had one their combined traffic cruisers parked on the side of Highway 16, west of the city, dealing with a vehicle they had pulled over.
According to a tweet from the SPS Traffic Unit a truck passed the police vehicle doing 110 km/h, just missing the cruiser. Police tried to stop the truck before it crossed the ditch onto oncoming traffic and crashed into another car. The driver of the truck was arrested for impaired driving and police allege the driver had a blood alcohol level of three and a half times the legal limit.
Police remind drivers to slow to 60 km/h and move over when passing emergency vehicles and tow trucks.
