Saskatoon Police say Thursday they got a call around the time people are leaving work about an impaired driver in downtown Saskatoon, just across from the Midtown Plaza in the 100 block of 21st Street East.
Police saw a man in the driver’s seat of a vehicle who they say displayed signs of drug impairment and when officers looked in the vehicle they say they spotted a collapsible baton on the front passenger seat. This was around 5:30 p.m.
A subsequent search allegedly turned up cocaine and various prescription drugs. The man appeared to be suffering an overdose and was taken to hospital by Medavie Health Services.
In total police seized the baton, more than 38 grams of Cocaine, almost 56 grams of Methamphetamine, 131 pills of Hydromorphone, 14 pills of Oxycodone and a sawed-off shotgun which had the serial number removed.
After being treated at hospital, a 25 year old man was released into police custody and is a facing drug and weapons charges as well as possession of Proceeds of Crime.
