The Saskatoon Police Service says just after midnight Friday, it was a near miss between a suspect vehicle and an unmarked police vehicle near the intersection of 8th and Broadway.

Officers say the truck sped west on 8th Street, driving erratically. It turned on to the Sid Buckwold Bridge and narrowly avoided a city transit bus in a construction zone.

The Air Support Unit took over tracking the vehicle until it parked in a lot on Faithful Avenue near 51st Street. The driver fled on foot, but was tracked and apprehended by a police dog team. A 27 year old man is facing various charges including impaired driving, evading police and refusing to comply with a breath test.
