A young man from the Mistawasis First Nation made his first court appearance Monday in Prince Albert, facing charges of public mischief and obstruct police officer.
Tyler Sanderson was arrested after Ahtahkakoop R-C-M-P received a report of a serious two-vehicle collision at about 1 a.m. Saturday, September 25. However, responders to the report found no accident scene, leading to an investigation and the arrest of 21-year-old Sanderson.
The initial call said a serious two-vehicle collision happened on the Mistawasis First Nation with multiple casualties and two deceased individuals. That led to officers from the Ahtahkakoop and Blaine Lake R-C-M-P, EMS, STARS and local residents conducting extensive patrols to locate the collision scene and provide assistance to victims. The scene as never found and R-C-M-P turned their attention to investigating a false report, which eventually led them to arresting Sanderson.
