The White Butte RCMP Detachment is piloting criminal record checks online, but only for residents in communities within their service area.
White Butte RCMP Staff Sergeant Jason Sauve says the pilot is on until March of 2022.
He hopes this will expand to other Saskatchewan RCMP detachments, because of the ongoing pandemic, and because some detachments have large areas, and it’s not always easy for people to get to the detachment.
This gives clients the opportunity to the record checks from their home.
This is also being done by the Alberta RCMP in 12 communities.
