A 29 year old man is facing numerous charges from both the RCMP and Regina Police Service, including kidnapping, uttering threats and flight from a peace officer. It began on September 5th, when officers were told at a vehicle collision on Lewvan Drive that a man had crossed the intersection and crashed into another vehicle, and then took off on foot.
Officers say there was a firearm in the vehicle, and the man was identified as as having a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest for breach of statutory release.
Later that day, officers were dispatched twice to Smith Street. The first time, police were told a man had pulled up to another vehicle with a woman inside, and he forced her into his vehicle, threatening her. She was later found.
Police were then dispatched to a home in the same block where officers were told a female was with a male who was said to have a firearm. As officers arrived, they noticed the wanted man taking off. Because of safety concerns, there was no pursuit.
A week later, Broadview RCMP and Combined Traffic Services responded to a report of a stolen vehicle on Highway 1, which led to the rest of 29 year old Tyler Jonas Lavallee of Regina.
He appears in court on Friday.
