Following a five-week low for daily new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday in Saskatchewan, there was nearly double the number of new cases in Wednesday’s look at the dashboard on the provincial government’s website.
There were 478 new cases in the latest update, of which 99 were children under-12 years old who are not eligible to be vaccinated, substantially more than the 242 new cases reported on Tuesday. However, the active case count in Saskatchewan went down by 72 day-over-day from Tuesday to Wednesday at 4,313 as the latest update had 543 recoveries. The number of hospitalized patients went up by 16 from Tuesday to 356, including a pandemic record of 76 infections being treated in an I-C-U. There were also seven new fatalities reported for a virus-related death total of 733 in Saskatchewan. The number of COVID-19 tests performed and doses of vaccine administered went up substantially on Tuesday from Monday. Tests were up 1,637 to 4,015 while vaccine shots went up by 2,651 from Monday to 4,223 on Tuesday.

- As of October 6th, a total of 356 individuals are hospitalized; including 280 inpatient hospitalizations, and 76 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 356 patients, 273 (76.7%) were not fully vaccinated.
